The kick-off meeting took place at VITO’s premises in Mol, Belgium, on 25–26 November 2025. The meeting brought together partners from across the consortium to formally launch the project, establish collaboration frameworks, and outline the scientific and technical objectives for the upcoming phases. Participants introduced their respective organizations and roles within the project, highlighting their expertise in lithium extraction technologies, mineral processing, and the development of high-purity lithium products for energy applications.
During the two-day meeting, the consortium discussed the overall project structure, key milestones, and work package responsibilities. Particular emphasis was placed on aligning methodologies for hard rock lithium extraction, purification processes, and the integration of innovative technologies aimed at improving efficiency and sustainability. The partners also addressed project management procedures, communication strategies, and reporting requirements to ensure smooth coordination throughout the project’s duration. The meeting concluded with a shared understanding of the initial tasks and timelines, reinforcing the consortium’s commitment to advancing sustainable lithium supply for the growing energy storage sector.
